Erik and Kids trip to Eagle Crest

The summer has gone by so fast I can not believe it. Labor day weekend the 3 younger kids and Erik went on the annual trip to Eagle Crest with Grandma, Grandpa, Aunt Angie, Joe and Will.  Sean and I stayed home to work and take care of the animals.  I also had school work that needed to get done, and Sean did not want to miss out on the money he would be making from work. They went on several bike rides and a few trips to the pool as well as playing on the golf course after closing and watching for animals early in the mornings. They took a hike up Smith Rock and Kaelyn got to go and ride Snickers the horse again. No one was ready to come home. Wish I were able to go and enjoy the fun with them. Sean and I had a mom son night with dinner and a movie Friday night. Saturday we worked, and he hung out with friends, I went to dinner with Aunt Bonnie and did school work. Sunday was work and more school work and few chores. Monday we just hung out and did a few more chores while we waited for everyone to return. Nice quiet weekend.

Sean Soccer and Knee injury

The first weekend in August, Sean had a soccer tournament up in Washington. They left Saturday morning and picked up a soccer buddy on their way. somehow they got going the wrong directions and was over an hour late my the time they made it. He went in for the second half of the game. The lst game he was playing scored which is a big deal because generally he is a goalie but because of the low players he got to play on the field. minutes before the game ended he went down and had to be carried off the field. at the end of the game a parent drove their van onto the field, picked him up and took him to the medic tent who sent them to the ER. X-rays and some pain med's. He had only sprained it thank goodness, and they sent him on his way with a brand new pair of crutches. He was down and out most of the week resting up so that he could do try-outs. He missed club try outs but managed to heal well enough to do High School Tryouts. He made B team again for club (without trying out) and JV for High school.

KK and JJ girl scout camp

The first week in August the girls went to their summer camp. This was a day camp, They had to be at Wilson High school by 8 in the morning to catch the bus and returned at 4:30. We are very lucky that our friend was a volunteer and was able to pick up the girls on her way to meet the bus and to be able to bring them home at the end of the day. Every day they had amazing stories and songs of what they did. I think that Kaelyn came home every day with a new gimp project, they made photo frames, played games.  The theme was Hawaiian luau. They even had dancers come. Thursday night the older kids got to spend the night and had a catered Hawaiian dinner. The week went by quickly and by Friday both girls were sad to see it end. I do have couple of pictures, I just need to scan them first.

Jake Scout Summer Camp

Jake went to his first cub-scout summer camp. Erik went with him as he is not quite comfortable without one of us yet. They left on Sunday afternoon and returned Tuesday night. Jake had a blast. He did not like the rifle shooting to well but did awesome at the bow and arrow. They got to sleep in forts. Erik completed everything to earn the adult badge. There was one incidence. one of the boys told the rest to chew on the glow bracelets they had and to shake out the liquid on the walls of the fort and then it would glow all night. Jake decided that was a great idea until he got some of the liquid in his mouth and it did not taste well. One of the other dad's saw what they were doing and told them to stop because it was poison and that is where Jake freaked out. He had gotten a tiny bit in his mouth and even though he spit it out he thought that he was going to get sick and had one of his panic attacks. Erik had a hard time settling him down so took him to the camp nurse who tried to convince him as well that he was fine. But Jake knew better. So on to plan B. A baby aspirin. They told him that the aspirin would make sure that he did not get sick. He gobbled it right up and settled down and finished out the camp with no problems. He has so many stories when he came home and talked a mile a minute for days about camp and can not wait for next year.

July 4th

We decided this year to try and go and watch the fireworks somewhere. Jake in the past has been afraid so we have been staying home. this year we went with a friend to Willamette park to watch the ones from the river and Oaks park.  The kids had fun playing in the park and running around with the other kids. when it came time for the fireworks Jake did well. He watched with his hands cupped over his years but was not afraid. We then came home and lit off a few more that we had at home. Happy 4th of July everyone. sorry forgot camera so no pictures.

Great Wolf Lodge

July 2nd-3rd. Kaelyn sold so many cookies again this year that she was #2 in her troop and won a trip to Great Wolf lodge again with her scout friend Ashley. This year there were so many scouts going that they ran out of room and offered to those that wanted to go on their own a gift card that they could use. We opted for this because the trip was originally planned on the first weekend in June when I was gone and KK had her gym banquette. We decided to go on the 2nd option which was July 2nd weekend. I decided that I would take Jake and Jessie with me as well. Jake has never been and so we turned it into a mini vacation. We got a room with Ashley and her mom and us. We had enough money from the 2 gift cards to not only get entrance into the water park but also to do several other activities. Each of the kids was able to build an animal at the build a wolf store. Jake chose a dragon, Jessie a horse and Kaelyn and Ashley chose a wolf. they each picked out an outfit. They also decorated t-shirts or bags, and did the quest game, which we ran out of time to complete. So they can take their wands with us next time we go and try to finish it then. We were in and out of the water park and all the kids had a blast. we even got Jake to go down the twister slide 2. He was pretty freaked out after the first time but I told him it was always better the 2nd time because you knew what to expect. so he tried it again and still did not like it, although he did finish with a smile on his face. We could have totally stayed another day to play but needed to head home on Sunday evening. On our way home we stopped and picked up some fireworks. Traffic was terrible and it took us a while to get home. We had a great trip.
