Happy Birthday Jake

Well we made it to age 7. Jake's birthday was last Monday the 12Th We are so busy that we did not do a big party this year. Erik's family came over Monday night for some cake and ice cream. and we told Jake that next month when things settle down a bit that he could have some friends over for a small friend party. He was so cute though. I kept telling him that this year was a present free birthday. He got a little sad and said "but I need at least 1 toy". so OK we did get him some presents. He grew so much over the summer that he needed a whole new wardrobe so that he was not wearing his jeans above his ankles. actually Erik and I got him an early present because just could not send him to school looking like that. so 2 weeks before his birthday we went shopping for new pants. We also got him a case for his leapster and a new game. as well as a board game. The cutest part though was when he opened up Uncle Matt's present. I had Matt get him his Scout shirt and patches that he needed for his uniform. When Jake opened it he said "oh it's a shirt" I told him to look at it more closely. this is what he said with a high pitched squeal "it's my scout leader shirt. this deserves something" and then he ran over to Uncle Matt and gave him a great big hug. so sweet. anyway he had a good birthday.
Happy Birthday Jake

The rest of the week was a nightmare though. Monday evening Kaelyn started not feeling well and got worse through out the night. I took her to the Dr. Tuesday morning and found out that she had Swine flu. Yippee. It has been going around her gymnastics for the last few weeks. The gave her the antiviral medication and between that and Advil she felt better. She was pretty miserable for a few days but by Wednesday afternoon her fever finally stayed away and by Thursday the coughing was almost gone. I let her go to school on Friday. Well we did not think 1 getting sick was enough so of course Jessie got sick as well on Wednesday. She came home from school and fell asleep and when she got up she was running a fever. We just assumed that it was the same thing that kaelyn had as the symptoms were similar. however after her fever kept spiking to 103-104 Friday, I took her to the Dr. and she did not have the flu but she did have Strep throat. yeah. she is now feeling better and went back to school today. I am tired of sanitizing a few times a day. I will be glad when everyone is better. So far no one else has gotten sick. couple of daycare kids have colds but nothing major. hope that stays that way.
