OK it is official. All the kids are in school, all day long. Sean did well as usual. He was worried about it but once he got there and found his way he did fine. He is stressed out over the homework and family stuff (as he calls it) and soccer. i think that he is feeling a bit overwhelmed. I was telling him that homework would not be that much different then what he was doing in middle school. but he has been hit hard with it so far. The first night he only had math and going over all the info from the other classes with us. not too bad. the second night he had a paper due already in world history, and some math. He was working for a couple of hours at least. I was not home so not sure how long it took him. last night he had another paper due. He said that he had at least 2 hours of homework to do.
He is leaving around 7 in the morning with Erik. Erik is dropping him off on his way to work so that Sean does not have to take the city bus in the mornings. Right after school he jumps on trimet and takes the bus to the park where he has soccer practice. Practice ends around 5:30 and either Erik or carpool bring him home. He then has couple of hours of homework dinner and chores (which we have been easy on him, mostly just taking care of his own space). Not sure what time he is going to sleep but he keeps forgetting to set his alarm and we have to wake him up. yesterday even after we woke him up he went right back to sleep and had just a few min. to get ready and out the door. This morning Erik went down to get him up and he must have fallen asleep last night with his bedroom light on and T.V. on. It will take a bit but he will get into a routine and then do fine.
He had his 1st soccer game on Wednesday and lost. he has another game today. He has early release from school so that they can make it to the game on time. I will not get to go to this one either as it is at 4:15 in Tualatin and I have kids that Begin getting picked up at that time as well as having to get Kaelyn to gym at 4.
Kaelyn started out fine. She is liking her teacher now. She too has a very strict teacher this year and I have heard a few stories but nothing to make her upset like she thought it was going to be like. she however has had homework the very first day. about 45 min worth plus reading. The second night was better, she finished in just a few min. and then did her 20 min of reading. So far so good. also last week we had an orthodontics appointment and she is very excited that this will be her last wire change. she is due to get them off early. instead of Feb. she starts getting them off the end of November. They will take them off in 2 appointments. so she will be braces free the beginning of December. She will have a retainer I believe that she will only have to wear at night time.
Jakob has not talked much about school. I heard a story about the kissing hand. that is about it. He is enjoying being back with friends and is transitioning well to the 1st grade. He started soccer practice last week. On Wednesday he had his 2ND practice. It did not go so well. I am not sure that he will be the sports type kid. He was excited to be there got there started playing. I left to take Jessie to a friends who was taking her to her gymnastics and when I got back he had fallen on a cone and scrapped up his chin pretty good. they had already cleaned it up and put a band aid on and he was out playing again. but I could tell something was not right. He was a bit grumpy. the last few min while they were scrimmaging he got the ball and took it down the field to try and score. one of the boys from the other team kept trying to kick it away and knocked just far enough that Jake missed the goal and had to bring it back around. but every time he tried to go the other team was in the way (how dare them) and he could not get passed them. so he clenched his fists, through his arms down to his side and yelled "STOP IT" when they all stopped he took the ball and continued on until the coach stopped him. Yep he was mad because the other team would not let him score and his team was loosing. Well we had a nice little talk then went back to the coach to say sorry and thank him and shook his hand like a gentleman should. and then talked all the way home. He was quite upset and did not want to play anymore. We will see how the soccer game goes on Saturday. Coach talked him into coming back for the game. Too competitive. We have obviously not learned good sportsmanship yet. At least he did not go after the other team and push them down like he did last year. What fun years we will have with him.
Well onto our last little one. Today is Jessie's 1st day of kindergarten. I did not get very many pictures because my camera batteries died and I did not bring a spare. oh well. I will get lots when she gets off the bus this afternoon. She was excited to go but I could tell she was nervous as well. She normally is a little chatter box and this morning she was pretty quiet. She got upset with me when we got to the school because she did not want to stay sitting and wait for her teacher to tell her when it was time to go to class. She wanted me to take her to the playground out side so that she could play while he was getting the other kids settled. we pouted for awhile and we sat on the step in the cafeteria like we were suppose to though, and we waited. The little girl sitting next to her said "Hi" but Jessie refused to say anything. So I asked her if she was going to say hi back and she shook her head no and sat there very quiet. the student teacher came by and said something to her and we got a small smile but still no words. She did line up like she was suppose to when the teacher pointed to her and gave me a hug good bye. I walked down to her locker said good bye and left. Good luck Mr. Casquero. Here are the few pictures that I was able to get.
