Gymnastics meet season is here.

Kaelyn had her first meet today. She did well. there were only 2 level 5 teams with 2 age groups competing. Kaelyn's age group only had kids from her gym so they were basically competing against there own team. which was fine for a first meet. Kind of got them going without too much pressure. First event was Bars and wouldn't you no it, Coach forgot to remind the girls to bring their grips and guess what we forgot. So she had to borrow someone elses grips. She got 8.65 and received 3rd place. Next up was Beam. that did not go so well. She was very nervous and was a bit shaky. She scored 8.15. Then they moved on to Floor. She did awesome. She was the only one on her team to score a 9. She got a 9.05 and received 1st place. Last was Vault she tied for 1st place with an 8.85. All around score was 34.70. She came in 2nd place all around and received the 2nd place metal. here are the videos from the meet.

getting back into school rountine

OK we survived the 2ND week of school. everyone is getting into homework mode and bedtimes. Not much happened this week. Sean had 2 soccer games lost one and won one. Kaelyn is getting ready for gymnastics meet season to start. her first meet is on Sept 26Th. Jake has had 1 soccer game so far and that went well. Jessie was very excited to bring home her very first homework folder. If only they all could be excited about homework. She is adjusting well to kindergarten. We are finally having our garage sale this weekend. Jake has a soccer game on Saturday, and we have our last bingo shift on Saturday until after the first of the year anyway. Just an average weekend. Here are a few pictures I took this week.

Kaelyn with her Cat Sam. She told him to climb in and pushed open the front of the cart and he climbed right in.

Back to School

Sean 1st day of High School

OK it is official. All the kids are in school, all day long. Sean did well as usual. He was worried about it but once he got there and found his way he did fine. He is stressed out over the homework and family stuff (as he calls it) and soccer. i think that he is feeling a bit overwhelmed. I was telling him that homework would not be that much different then what he was doing in middle school. but he has been hit hard with it so far. The first night he only had math and going over all the info from the other classes with us. not too bad. the second night he had a paper due already in world history, and some math. He was working for a couple of hours at least. I was not home so not sure how long it took him. last night he had another paper due. He said that he had at least 2 hours of homework to do.
He is leaving around 7 in the morning with Erik. Erik is dropping him off on his way to work so that Sean does not have to take the city bus in the mornings. Right after school he jumps on trimet and takes the bus to the park where he has soccer practice. Practice ends around 5:30 and either Erik or carpool bring him home. He then has couple of hours of homework dinner and chores (which we have been easy on him, mostly just taking care of his own space). Not sure what time he is going to sleep but he keeps forgetting to set his alarm and we have to wake him up. yesterday even after we woke him up he went right back to sleep and had just a few min. to get ready and out the door. This morning Erik went down to get him up and he must have fallen asleep last night with his bedroom light on and T.V. on. It will take a bit but he will get into a routine and then do fine.
He had his 1st soccer game on Wednesday and lost. he has another game today. He has early release from school so that they can make it to the game on time. I will not get to go to this one either as it is at 4:15 in Tualatin and I have kids that Begin getting picked up at that time as well as having to get Kaelyn to gym at 4.

Kaelyn !st day of 4Th grade

Kaelyn started out fine. She is liking her teacher now. She too has a very strict teacher this year and I have heard a few stories but nothing to make her upset like she thought it was going to be like. she however has had homework the very first day. about 45 min worth plus reading. The second night was better, she finished in just a few min. and then did her 20 min of reading. So far so good. also last week we had an orthodontics appointment and she is very excited that this will be her last wire change. she is due to get them off early. instead of Feb. she starts getting them off the end of November. They will take them off in 2 appointments. so she will be braces free the beginning of December. She will have a retainer I believe that she will only have to wear at night time.

Jakob's 1st day of 1st grade

Jakob has not talked much about school. I heard a story about the kissing hand. that is about it. He is enjoying being back with friends and is transitioning well to the 1st grade. He started soccer practice last week. On Wednesday he had his 2ND practice. It did not go so well. I am not sure that he will be the sports type kid. He was excited to be there got there started playing. I left to take Jessie to a friends who was taking her to her gymnastics and when I got back he had fallen on a cone and scrapped up his chin pretty good. they had already cleaned it up and put a band aid on and he was out playing again. but I could tell something was not right. He was a bit grumpy. the last few min while they were scrimmaging he got the ball and took it down the field to try and score. one of the boys from the other team kept trying to kick it away and knocked just far enough that Jake missed the goal and had to bring it back around. but every time he tried to go the other team was in the way (how dare them) and he could not get passed them. so he clenched his fists, through his arms down to his side and yelled "STOP IT" when they all stopped he took the ball and continued on until the coach stopped him. Yep he was mad because the other team would not let him score and his team was loosing. Well we had a nice little talk then went back to the coach to say sorry and thank him and shook his hand like a gentleman should. and then talked all the way home. He was quite upset and did not want to play anymore. We will see how the soccer game goes on Saturday. Coach talked him into coming back for the game. Too competitive. We have obviously not learned good sportsmanship yet. At least he did not go after the other team and push them down like he did last year. What fun years we will have with him.

Well onto our last little one. Today is Jessie's 1st day of kindergarten. I did not get very many pictures because my camera batteries died and I did not bring a spare. oh well. I will get lots when she gets off the bus this afternoon. She was excited to go but I could tell she was nervous as well. She normally is a little chatter box and this morning she was pretty quiet. She got upset with me when we got to the school because she did not want to stay sitting and wait for her teacher to tell her when it was time to go to class. She wanted me to take her to the playground out side so that she could play while he was getting the other kids settled. we pouted for awhile and we sat on the step in the cafeteria like we were suppose to though, and we waited. The little girl sitting next to her said "Hi" but Jessie refused to say anything. So I asked her if she was going to say hi back and she shook her head no and sat there very quiet. the student teacher came by and said something to her and we got a small smile but still no words. She did line up like she was suppose to when the teacher pointed to her and gave me a hug good bye. I walked down to her locker said good bye and left. Good luck Mr. Casquero. Here are the few pictures that I was able to get.

End of the Summer

OK so it has been a while. I still have not gotten the Eagle Crest photos to post. I promise as soon as I remember to get the pix from Grandpa I will post them.

We have been busy with getting ready for school. doing a bit of shopping, sorting out old stuff. We are planning a garage sale in a couple of weeks.
the kids are getting excited to start school. we have one more week to go. Sean will be starting the 9Th grade and is not too sure of it. He will be fine once he starts and learns his way around the school and is back with his friends. He had soccer training and tryouts for high school. He made the JV2 team, bummer. there were just too many kids trying out. I think that there was 7 goalies and 3 of them were upperclassmen which took the spots on varsity and JV. He does not like it much but he is going to play and get through it and hope that next year he is at least on the JV team. He will have practice or a game every day after school. He did however, make the A team for his Club soccer which will start practices in November and they will play through winter. He was very excited about that. He will also participate in Boy Scouts still. He misses some because of soccer but during the fall season he will be able to attend most of the meetings.

Kaelyn is very excited to start school. She did not get the teacher she wanted but after I talked to the principal and her new teacher, she relaxed and was ready to go back to school. She will continue with her gymnastics and girl scouts this year. She has practice 4 times a week for 4 hours a day. We have not worked out the schedule for Girl Scouts yet. but she will be able to do most of it. Her 1st gym meet is on Sept. 26Th. She is looking pretty good. should get some high scores this season.

Jakob just started soccer practice as well and wants to join cub scouts but I have not found a pack for him yet. I will work on that this week. He did not get the teacher he wanted either but I think it will be a good fit for him so we are leaving it alone. He will be fine no matter what. Our Saturday mornings are going to be filled with his soccer games yeah that ought to be fun. We have not made a decision yet if he is going to continue with gymnastics. I think that it will be a bit much and they do not have times that work well with out schedule so we may find other things to do after soccer season. maybe he will want to try basketball or go back to swimming. or just relax and not do anything (I am all for that).

Jessie believe it or not is starting Kindergarten. We go tomorrow for her to meat her teacher (same one that Sean had). and then next week she has a testing appointment and her first full day is on Sept 11Th. She is still going to take a gymnastics class on Thursday afternoons with her friend Amy. She is also going to start Girl Scouts. We were talking about soccer but we did not like the way they organized the kindergartners last year and so we have not decided yet if she is going to do it or not. she would have to be on the practice field at 8:30 on Saturday mornings and I just think that she is going to have enough to deal with. however if her friend is doing it and she really wants to then I will probably let her.

Have a great last week of summer everyone and I will write more and post pix after we get settled in our school routines.
