Gymnastics meets, soccer, cub scouts, oh my.

Kaelyn first level 6 meet 9-25-10
check out the new leo

Ok, so our weekends are absolutely crazy but fun. Kaelyn had her first gym. meet this weekend. This is her first meet of the season but also as a level 6 where the routines are longer and much harder. She has struggled to get her back walk over on beam without a spot, Her back tumble run (round off, back hand spring, back tuck) on floor. and her fly away on bar (dismount). So a few weeks ago she got her back walk over on beam but was still too afraid to do it without her coach standing there, but was consistently did it without coach touching her. On floor she was complaining of her tumble run that her heals were hurting her and that was slowing her down. she added another stretch and this past week she got it. coach still spots (without touching her) so that she builds her confidence but she got. and the same time she got her fly away's on bar. all in time for the first meet that was on Saturday. Here are the stats. Floor 8.6 8th place, Vault (not her best) 8.2 did not place for ribbon, Bars 8.325 4th place, Beam (fell twice would of had a 9 if she stayed on) 8.05 did not place for ribbon, And all around 33.20 7th place in age group. This is a great score for first meet. Her next meet is Saturday. Now that the nerves are calming and confidence is building with 1 more week of practice this should be a good meet. here are the videos I have.

Kaelyn floor routine and Vault. 8.6 on floor and 8.2 on Vault

Kaelyn bar routine 8.325 (grandpa missed the first half) and Beam routine 8.05

Earlier in the day Jessie had dance class and then a soccer game and Jake had a soccer game and gymnastics. Sean was off at outdoor school training all day. We picked him up at 6 and then home for dinner. I missed getting pictures again of the soccer games this weekend. I will have to do better next weekend and try and get some pictures.

On Sunday I had work and then took Jake to his store sale for popcorn fundraiser for cub scouts. I kept hugging me and thanked me for signing him up. He as so cute and had a blast selling popcorn. this is what he would say to get people's attention (this is after pushing a grocery cart to them on the way in and then catching them on the way out. "would you like to buy popcorn so I can go to camp?" I don't know how many people started to turn away and say no but then as they heard him say so he can go to camp they came back. some would buy others would just talk to him and then told him that it was a little out of their budget but they hope he gets to go to camp. so funny. I told him next week he needs to wear his eye patch and he could really get um. (just kidding but it would be nice to have his dues and camp fees all paid up for the year) He sold 254 in popcorn sales and got 16 in donations. go Jake. Lets hope that the next 3 sales go as well.

We survived the 1st 2 weeks of school

Ok so we are at the end of the 2nd week of school. We just had back to school night for the 3 younger kids. (Sean's is on Monday) I was able to make it to all teachers, sign up for what i needed to sign up for, and listen to their classroom rules and plans for the year. Also got to read a letter that Jake wrote on the first day of school. It is hard to read all of it, but basically it said that he was afraid to go to school because he thought that he would get sick (or sik as he spelled it) but he did not get sick and he was happy that he did not get sick. He also said that he got to see a lot of old friends and was happy that no one was mad. He ended it with he had a great day. Not sure why he is afraid of being sick but since the last week of school last year he has worried about that and the first day of summer school was the same thing. Thankfully the principal and I were able to talk him done before he thru himself in a full blown panic attack (which is what happened in June).

Besides school soccer season has started and the kids have all had their first games last weekend. I got to watch Jessie play. She had a huge smile on her face most of the time and only stopped once to blow us a kiss and then turned and chased the ball again. funny girl. At one point she was so excited that she had the ball that even though it was kicked out she ran after it and started running it down to the goal happy that no one was chasing her as all the coaches and parents are yelling stop the ball was out. She did eventually stop but she was so focused on doing her job that she did not hear any of us. She will learn. I then had to take her to her dance class so missed Jake's game. but was told that he played hard and had fun. Kaelyn is not doing soccer because it interferes with Gymnastics. And Sean is playing on both the JV and JV ll team for his high school. they did not have any freshman try out for Goalie so the JV goalies are taking turns playing with the JV ll team. I have yet to see a game because they are all at 4 and I can not make it to them at that time. Hoping that I can have Erik go and take pictures to a game next week. And I took a day off in October and will go to one of the games then. It breaks my heart that I can't go watch him play every game. Soccer pictures to come soon. We forgot the camera last weekend so will do it this weekend for Jake and next weekend for Jessie.
The girls and I are off tomorrow for a trip to Great Wolf lodge with the girl scouts.

On a side note I have lost 32 lbs doing weight watchers. It is not as hard as I thought it would be and hope that the next 30 lbs go as easy as the first did.

1st day of school

Ok the kids started school yesterday. Most of them anyway. Jessie ended up with some type of tummy bug starting about 12:30 am and ended up missing her 1st day of 1st grade. So sad.

The day went ok. I took the younger kids to school, Erik took Sean. Sean was fine, Kaelyn was so excited she couldn't stand it. Jessie was home sick and Jake had a hard time. He did not want to go and was very upset when I tried to leave. Thankfully we have a wonderful principle and she was able to take him aside and talk to him while I left and then was able to get him in his class where he had a great day. This morning they all got on the bus and there was not a fuss. I was afraid to take Jessie for her first day because I did not want him getting upset again. So Kaelyn and her friend Alexandra took Jessie on the bus with all her supplies and was going to help her get settled in with her teacher before they went to their class. Hope all goes well.

Sean 1st day of 10th grade
Kaelyn 1st day of 5th grade

Jakob 1st day of 2nd grade

Jessie 2nd day of school but Her first day of 1st grade

end of summer

Ok so not much has gone on. We have been just hanging out at home and working on the yard. We did go to a weekend camping trip the end of August and again forgot the camera so have to wait to see if someone else got any good photos. We went to lost lake August 20-22, got up there late Friday and set up camp. (grandpa and Kaelyn got there first and found us a camp sight). Saturday we got up ate hung around for a bit at the camp sight and then went on a hike around the lake. Kids had fun wading in the lake (even though it was a bit cold out). the afternoon they took the inflatable boats out on the lake and then dinner, campfire, and bed. We woke up to rain on Sunday morning so packed up and headed home. on our way home we stopped at Multnomah Falls, which the little kids have not been there before and thought it was a blast. We made it home around noon unloaded got lunch and took the kids to TCBY and then more yard work. Weekend went by so fast. The kids loved camping (even though it was short) so we will plan a longer trip next year.

the following weekend I took off Friday and Monday for a long weekend. We were suppose to go to the beach with Kaelyn's gymnastics team but that was cancelled because of the weather. We ended up going to George Rodgers park for a picnic with her team instead. the Kids did not want to leave. they played in the river, fed the ducks, and looked for rocks. the time flew by and it was time to go home. again making plans to go back again. Jake however will be put on a leach as he was talking to anyone that would listen to him. at one point he started following a man to his car because he had bread in the car and Jake wanted more. Thank goodness he had the sense to come tell me where he was going before he made it to the car. After that my eyes were on him the entire time. The kids had friends over the rest of the afternoon. The rest of the weekend we did some school shopping and yard work. School starts next Tuesday.
