Gymnastics up meet and Banquet

Sunday May 16th
the day started out with me and kids going to work/Sunday school. I then took kids home for a quick lunch and change of clothes and then Kaelyn and I were off to her gymnastics Up meet. This was just a fun meet for the girls to show the coaches that they were ready to move up to the next level. They got to do the next level up routines on all events. Kaelyn did well. she needed spotting on her bar dismount and on floor for her round off, backhand spring, back tuck. (she can do this but on the back tuck she gets a bit nervous and still wants her coach to spot her) vault she was fine. and then there was beam. she did a great warm up and then got nervous and fell off several times. she missed her back walk over (which she still needs spotting on) and her full turn (which she can do very well but with nerves fell off) and then from there it was a total loss. she was so upset that she would not even high five coach and was in almost tears. oh well coach still knows that she can do it and will have the skills down without spotting very soon. And congratulations kaelyn who will now move up to Level 6.
As soon as she finished her beam routine she took off to change and we were out the door to go and pick up Jake and go get their new glasses. yeah for fast service. We ordered them on Saturday and they were done on Sunday. We then headed home for another quick change and do get all dolled up for Katelyn's gymnastics' banquet. My camera battery died so only got this picture. I had other mom's take pictures but not sure if or when I will get a copy of those. the banquet went great. It was held at the Crown Plaza in Lake Oswego. Aunt Bonnie was able to go with Kaelyn and myself this year. The dinner was great. the speeches were fun. Kaelyn received the Steady Betty award for always being calm and consistent at every meet. the girls also received little trinkets. and the coaches were given great baskets full of gifts from the girls and parents. And Kaelyn showed off her new glasses. What a fun night.

Glasses all around

May 15th was a crazy busy day. We had our normal work, gymnastics, dance, baseball, as well as Jessie's dance pictures, and couple of eye appointments.

Kaelyn has been having headaches almost every day after school for the last few weeks, so was time to get those eyes checked (it has been a couple of years since her last checkup) and while we were there we decided to go and get Jake's checked as well since he lost his glasses couple of months ago and we needed to find out if we needed to replace them or if he was doing fine.

Well Kaelyn has astigmatism and is far sighted so now we have 2 kids with glasses, Yeah for our pocket books. but hopefully no more headaches.

Now Jake who we thought was doing fine because passed the school screening this year (failed last year) and his eye Dr. last year said that he was just a bit far sighted but was still in the normal range for his age, but because his exam was worse then the year before he gave him glasses to wear while doing school work and reading, computer and what not, did not do so well this time. He is now near sighted in his good eye (left) and is not seeing much of anything with his right eye. He was diagnosed with Deep Amblyopia or lazy eye. He now has to go and see a specialist or someone that does Orthoptics (vision training) and has a new Lens prescription. and is now wearing his glasses all day even during play. I have been working on finding him an optometrist who specializes in Vision therapy and hopefully will have him an appointment soon.

Mothers Day weekend

The kids and I spent Mother's day afternoon at the zoo. There was so many people that we had to park and take the shuttle, then wait in line to get in. once in we had fun. The kids are so funny. Sean Just wanted to look at the big animals and get out of there. Kaelyn and Jake wanted to look at everything. Kaelyn having to take pictures of everything so that she will remember them. and poor Jessie was ready to go home as soon as we got there. We were able to distract her and get her interested in few things. but after every exhibit just about she asked if we were going home now. Next time maybe she will stay home with Sean and I will take the other two. Kaelyn took way too many pictures to post but here are a few of my favorites
